Actually, I confess... the REAL reason we went was because I didn't want to sit through the hot parade but I felt like we needed to celebrate with some sort of festivity. The cool, early morning balloon launch sounded perfect!
Olivia loved the balloons so much that she cried when we left.

I got some bright idea to whip up a little red, white & blue something for Olivia to wear this year. I've had this pattern for a while and since I was so late starting on the project all the 4th of July fabrics were on sale! I finished it late on the 3rd, so she couldn't try it on before we left the next morning. It was a little big, and I forgot about bloomers so her diaper was showing half the time (it was also a little shorter than I expected). But, I got that all fixed before we left for the BBQ (thanks to Wendi's mad tailoring skills).

Every 4th of July my uncle Steve and aunt Marlene have a big BBQ. The kids always swim but usually the adults just sit around and chat. At 37 weeks pregnant there was NO WAY I was getting into a swim suit, but I didn't want Olivia to miss out. So, Tyler was the lucky one nominated to get in and swim with her. Tyler would like me to add that his farmer's tan is a direct result of fatherhood (but I say it's a result of his job).
Olivia is a true fish. She loved the pool. I bought her some dive rings like they used at swimming lessons and she had a lot of fun "diving" for them on the steps. She has no problem sticking her head under water... it's so cute. She also loved going down the slide and jumping off the side of the pool. Of course Tyler was there to catch her, but he didn't catch her up high out of the water... she jumped right into the water and would get fully submerged. Too bad I didn't get any pictures of it. She really is a little fish.

We went to Tyler's mom's house for fireworks. She wasn't quite sure of them at first, but once she saw Tyler lighting them she must have figured they were okay 'cause she warmed right up to them.

It had been a long day! An early morning at the balloon launch, swimming, a late & very short nap, and lots of playing that evening and Olivia was SUPER tired. She sat in the chair and on my lap just like this for the last hour or so while the older cousins were busy lighting all the fireworks. Doesn't she look worn out?

Sounds like you had a lot of fun. I can't believe how big Olivia is. When is bambino 2 due?
It looks like you had fun! Her dress is adorable! I can't believe how big she is. Not to mention I had no idea you were already 37 weeks pregnant! That flew by (I am sure not for you!) That baby will be here before you know it.
So, thanks for the advice. I was imagining Julia carrying her potty around the house. Let's face it, that wouldn't be a good habit for the future! So I am going to get one that sits on the toilet. I am not pushing anything either but hey if there is interest, I am taking advantage of it! What are the names of your potty books??
I think you are right the behavior is from growing pains, teeth and lets face it toddlerhood! The lovely independent stage! How did it sneak up on me so fast??
Anyway, thank you for always being my baby whisperer!!
Were so sad we weren't able to go to Steve and marlene's. Next year Sam and Olivia will go swim together.
It's count down time until the baby! Let me know if we can do anything. Let us know when the baby comes.
