Twilight Review...

So, I finally finished the Twilight series. Did I love it? Um, no, not really. But, I didn't hate it.

I understand why every girl/woman that has read the book seems to have a huge crush on Edward. He says everything a girl wants to hear, and he does everything perfectly. He's romantic, protective, mysterious, passionate and dangerous all at the same time... oh and don't forget rich and extremely good looking.

I do think that the plot of the series was interesting and I think she did a fairly good job at that aspect of the book. I did have a hard time putting the book down most of the time and actually found myself dreaming about the Volturi, vampires, and blood. Ewe, gross.

I can see why some people think Meyers is some great writer... 'cause she does do a pretty good job at reeling you in; interesting plot + perfect, romantic vampire = perfect love story/action movie/soap opera.

Personally, I thought the books were filled with a lot of fluff (evidently, a lot of people enjoy that). I didn't like that Edward was cold and "hard." I rather enjoy cuddling up next to my hubby's warm body and kissing his warm lips, but that's just me. And drinking the blood from a styrofoam cup? Too weird for my tastes. My biggest beef with the books is that I often I felt like she had to explain "deeper stuff" (IE, irony) like she thought I was stupid. I feel like a good author leaves that stuff for the reader to figure out. Maybe a teenage audience needs a little help to understand deeper stuff? I guess I should leave teenage vampire novels to teenagers?

Obviously, I liked the books enough to keep reading them. I wouldn't say they were extremely well written, but they weren't entirely horrible either. And just for the record, I don't have a crush on Edward, although I wouldn't mind a tank-proof (because bullet-proof isn't good enough) Mercedes. Oh, and a trip to a private island (complete with a canopy bed draped in gauzy linens, fully stocked kitchen, and a maid) would be nice.

Hi Megan and Tyler, I was just checking the sfhs blog and thought I'd say "hi". Olivia is so beautiful. She sounds like she is so much fun. Glad things are going good with you.

Okay i loved the first book, hated the 2nd one, thought the 3rd was pretty good but i really disliked the last one. I was an Edward fan but in the last one Jacob grew on me. I think everyone should read because they are fun books to read.

I absolutely agree with everything you just said. I still have about 200 pages of Breaking Dawn left and I'm just over it to be totally honest. Meyer is just not really that great of a writer - the character of Edward is just so intriguing in the first book that you have to keep reading. Bella's character actually bothers me through most of the series. Anyway, I'm glad someone else feels the same way I do. Thanks so much for all your advice! You have NO idea how much it helped!!

o my gosh...such a completely disappointing fourth book. I admit, I reluctantly picked up the first one and then got hooked. they were fun and entertaining. My sis Sherry and I used to discuss the books and what we thought the outcome would be.
I did NOT fall in love with Edward, instead, reading the books reminded me of my first dates with Nick, first kiss and his proposal...I honestly just remembered first love.
they were a guilty pleasure I guess, just pure entertainment. Definitely a far cry from literature, but I enjoyed them.
However, the fourth one was a TOTAL disappointment. I was disappointed in the author, the subject matter (hello, this was for a teen audience) and the plot.
I'm pretty much done and over Twilight. I wish it would have ended with the third book.
