The Woes of Pregnancy...

I went to Salt Lake today to get my hair cut. I forgot how much I DON'T miss that drive. And I also forgot how long and uncomfortable of a drive it is when you're pregnant (how & why did I do it for 9 months?). Well, when I got to the salon I noticed my feet were a little swollen.

Oh joy.

I managed to avoid too much swelling when I was pregnant with Olivia, but the end of that pregnancy was in the winter. I am slightly, okay, REALLY worried about this summer. You know, being hot and wanting to wear shorts but being fat and super swollen. UGH.

I keep telling myself I should swear off the Diet Pepsi since it's loaded with sodium which can contribute to water retention which then contributes to kankles. But, I can't seem to give it up.

Plus, sometimes that Diet Pepsi is the only thing that makes you feel oh, so good when you're preggo!

My Dr told me I needed the caffine because I got really bad headaches while pregnant. So I could never give it up per Dr's orders!
Oh and I should send you a picture of my horrible swollen kankles from when I was pregnant with Katy. It will make you feel so much better. They were pretty bad!

Whatever gets you through it right? I say don't even try. Just enjoy your ice cold pepsi.

I am glad you don't have to drive that far anymore, that is no deal. Sorry about your ankles :(

I had to laugh about how you put "the" in front of Diet Pepsi. It really makes it sound like an addiction when you say "swear off the Diet Pepsi..." Kind of like saying "swear off the crackpipe"

I need to swear off the Diet Dr. Pepper.

I had edema which is the prediagnos for toxemia, with my first. It got so bad that you could push on my ankle with your finger and it would seriously leave and indentation on my ankle! I had to leave work 4 weeks earlier then planned and stay in bed. But, we all know how impossible it is to stay in bed with other children around. So, My grandma told me to eat a lot of lemons (Too sour) So I would do fresh lemonade with low sugar. Also fresh raspberries helped...oh yeah, and watermelon. You would think the watermelon would make you retain more water but something about the fiber in it helps you stay hydrated but flush out any extra water you may be retaining. In about three weeks I was able to be up doing things with no more kankles!!! So, it you like any of those things, give it a try first before giving up the diet pepsi. ;)
