Sew What?

A few weeks ago Amberly posted about a sewing class for baby slings that she found at a local quilting shop. I couldn't pass up the chance to make my own sling, so I rounded up my mom and Wendi and we joined Katy and Amberly for a night of sewing at this cute little quilting shop. There were so many cute fabrics to chose from that I really had a hard time narrowing it down. I just wanted to use them all! We had so much fun that we signed up for the apron class, too.

A few weeks ago I picked up some fabric to make one of these, "Hooter Hiders" (yes, you read that correctly. Catchy name, isn't it?). I already have one and love it, so I thought I'd make another. I'll either keep it for myself or give it away as a baby gift. I still haven't sewn it, but since the sling turned out so well I am inspired to keep going. So much so that I made Tyler rearrange the office this morning so that I can fit my sewing machine on my part of the desk. I think this is the beginning of an addiction (first couponing, now sewing).

After putting Olivia in my sling I've decided that it is a little too long. It's probably a great length for someone a bit taller, but at 5'3.5" (yes, that 1/2" counts for a lot) I need it just a little shorter. So, I am going to unpick a few seams and shorten it. Luckily it was so easy to do that it shouldn't be any problem.

So cute, you guys have to teach me! Doesn't this mean that Amb has to have something to put in it! Ha!
