The stomach flu has been going around our house for about 10 days now, in fact, Gub and I both caught it the day before we left for Mexico. Tyler ended up packing most of our stuff since I was so sick, and the plane ride there was miserable. I was so worried about being sick on the plane, but I made it. I spent the first day in Mexico sleeping. Yes, that is right, sleeping. But, by day two I was feeling significantly better as long as I didn't eat anything. Lucky for me, the bug seemed to leave, at least for a few days, but I got sick again Sunday night. I was sick again on the way home. It was no fun! Hauling luggage and a baby on taxis, through security, shuttle buses, etc. is rough when you are sick.
To top that off, Olivia has also been not-so-well lately. Her ear infection seems to be much better, but she is teething, again. And she doesn't cope with that very well. Nights in Mexico were brutal. Tylenol and teething tablets helped, but since I didn't want her waking up our hotel neighbors every hour I ended up putting her in bed with us. Bad habit to start, I know. So, Monday night, our first night home, was another nightmare. She slept horribly. And I was so sick that holding her made my stomach hurt even more. She woke up numerous times, and was awake for a solid hour and a half between 2:00 and 3:30am. Not fun for a mother sick with the stomach flu!
She was crabby all day Tuesday, partially from not getting enough sleep, but I think she is also sick. She threw up once and just fussed the rest of the day. Maddie was here to help take care of her, but soon Maddie wasn't feeling well either.
Although I didn't feel 100% better, I had this bright idea of making all of Tyler's favorite foods for his birthday, which is today. I am not a morning person, so those of you that know me will understand what a sacrifice I was making by preparing to get up, before he left for work, to make him a yummy breakfast (especially because I am a baby when I am sick and an even bigger baby when I don't get enough sleep). So, last night I made french toast (one of Tyler's favorites). It's a recipe that had to be made the night before, with pecans and a maple-brown sugar syrup. I planned on making a fruit salad to go with it. I was all ready, with time to spare, for Tyler's birthday. I just hoped that I would be well enough to enjoy it with him.
Forget about me feeling well. I woke up this morning to Tyler puking. Yep, you heard it right. Tyler's come down with the flu, too. What a rotten way to spend your birthday, huh? He claimed to have felt better after throwing up and he insisted that I put the french toast in the oven. He tried to eat it, but couldn't stomach it. Bless his heart for trying, I know he didn't want to disappoint me, but please... I'd rather him not eat it than throw up more.
His birthday dinner is cooking, too... French Dip Sandwiches. They're his favorite. Luckily, it freezes well so if he can't eat it we'll just save it for another day. I found out that Maddie spent all last night puking, too. Poor thing!! I hope everyone feels better soon and that no one else catches it! It is no fun!

I hate the flu. It's the worst feeling when you can't keep anything down and are nauseated 24/7. I'm sorry you're family is so sick. Stop drinking off each other's straws! :) I hope you all start feeling better. Tell Tyler I said Happy Birthday.
It's Michelle from the good old drill team days. Your daughter is adorable! 6 months is the best age. I would love some ideas on baby food send them my way! I loved your coupon story. Did you just find them in the paper or where did you hear about the awesome deals. I have always wanted to be good at coupon shopping but can't seem to get the hang of it.
I am so sorry you are all so sick!!! That is horrible.
Your trip looks like a BLAST!!! I have never been there, just Cabo, but I hear it is so nice there and we want to go. Your pictures are so cute and how fun to go with your family, they are so cute!

I am so sorry! I can handle throwing-up since I do it for 5 months when I'm pregnant but I cannot handle it when other people do...mostly my kids! I really hope you all feel better and happy birthday Tyler!
I am so sorry to hear that you have all been sick. I hope that you get feeling better. And Meg, I am so amazed that you were up early!! Remember when we used to go to the gym early in the morning???? Wish Tyler a Happy Birthday from us. Oh, your trip looked like so much fun. Olivia's swimming suits were darling. I have talked to Lisa but have not gotten up there yet. Anyway, I am glad to hear that you had a fun trip and I hope you all get better soon.
