50 Reasons To Celebrate Our Mom

  1. She is a great cook. She can cook anything, and everything tastes better when she cooks it.
  2. She is 50 years old and doesn't have any gray hair (I hope they are right when they say that "hair" genes are passed down from your mom).
  3. She would sacrifice anything for her family.
  4. She never stops learning. She is always taking classes, going to workshops, and reading books. If she wants to know about something, she finds a way to learn about it.
  5. She has beautiful green eyes.
  6. If my dad is out of town she lets us sleep with her (Mom's bed was ALWAYS more comfortable, right?).
  7. She would never intentionally hurt someone's feelings.
  8. She doesn't mind if we unexpectedly stop by her house hoping she's made something good for dinner.
  9. If we stop by and she doesn't have anything ready for dinner, she'll find something to make. We never leave hungry.
  10. She loves her sons-in-law like they're her own.
  11. She's a great hostess.
  12. She always does these random impressions of people and it makes us laugh so hard we cry.
  13. She knows how to have a yard sale better than anyone! She can make $1,000 and be done by 10:00am.
  14. She loves ice cream and can eat it really fast. Don't try to share with her, 'cause she'll have the whole thing gone before you can take two bites. I don't know how she doesn't get a brain freeze!
  15. She loves chocolate and almost always has a stash hidden somewhere in the house. She used to hide her it in her closet, especially the mint-chocolate cookies, but now that we're older she doesn't mind sharing.
  16. She lets all of us (her daughters) borrow her clothes. And she doesn't even get very mad when she finds them in our closets months later. The same goes for shoes and make-up.
  17. Whenever she focuses on something she sticks her tongue out of her mouth. It doesn't hang out, but just barely pokes through her lips.
  18. She's an awesome grandma!
  19. She has a certain soft spot for her only son... he's got her wrapped around his finger.
  20. She is very determined; when she puts her mind to something she does it 110%.
  21. She doesn't watch a lot of TV. In fact, she could easily live without a one.
  22. She loves to read magazines and always piles them at her feet when we take a road trip. She reads them in the car until she falls asleep (I've found myself doing the same thing and only recently realized that I got it from my mom).
  23. She has her own way of saying certain words:
    1. "woish" instead of "wash"
    2. "Walgren's" instead of "Walgreen's"
    3. "Hilfanger" instead of "Hilfiger"
  24. She is always willing to help... it doesn't matter what the task is, she jumps right in.
  25. She loves to hang out with her family (and we love to hang out with her).
  26. She loves to sit in front of the fireplace. Yes, even when everyone else thinks it is way too warm for a fire.
  27. She loves my dad so much and loves to spend time with him.
  28. She makes the BEST homemade bread.
  29. She'll try almost anything at least once.
  30. She is loyal to her friends and family.
  31. She can still do the splits.
  32. She has a green thumb.
  33. She's selfless.
  34. She likes being called "Grandma" even though she swore she'd never get used to it.
  35. She has fun Halloween parties.
  36. She didn't mind putting up my Christmas tree when I was 9 months pregnant (and I appreciated it so much)!
  37. She supports her daughters at all their dance competitions.
  38. She gives in to Kyler and his laundry, despite many threats to quit doing it for him.
  39. She's great at her job.
  40. Tyler says, "She's great at being 50!" (inside joke)
  41. She might as well be a vegetarian because she is so picky about her meat.
  42. She likes Josh Groban's music.
  43. She's a good conversationalist.
  44. She's a good seamstress and can also knit well. She recently picked up this hobby again, once she heard she was going to be a grandma!
  45. She never told us we had to be a certain age before we could shave our legs! (Thank you, Mom!)
  46. She has a very pretty smile.
  47. She thinks a baked potato is the perfect side dish to any meal (she is from Idaho).
  48. She looks great for her age.
  49. She is great at keeping up her food storage.
  50. She is the BEST mom in the entire world and we love her so much.
Happy Mother's Day!
