You make bath time so much fun!
Rubber Ducky, I'm awfully fond of you!
Olivia has loved being bathed ever since her first bath in the hospital... until recently. Over the last couple of weeks every time we tried putting her in the bath she would cry! She would arch her back and kick! I don't know what got into her, but I was worried that we had seen the end of "easy bathing days." I really was worried that she was going to be one of those kids that dreaded getting in the tub.
One day I tried giving her a rubber ducky to play with, hoping that would distract her, but she was still squirming and screeching! I finally decided that I would let her stand up in the water, and that I would hold her with one hand while I poured water over her and soaped her up with the other. She fussed a little bit, but she soon noticed the ducky floating around her feet. She kept trying to reach down and grab it, which made it a little tricky to balance her and bathe her. But, after another minute or two she just bent her legs and sat right down! She happily talked to her duck for the rest of the bath! I was pleasantly surprised, but I'll admit that I thought it was a fluke and that it wouldn't work again.
I tried it again the next day... let her stand up while the ducky bobbed around at her feet. Within 30 seconds she sat down and let me bathe her without a peep.
And Rubber Ducky continues to be part of bath time at our house. We are back to happy bath times. Thank you, Rubber Ducky!
