My good friend, Katy, made me aware of a bone marrow drive being sponsored by the NASCAR Foundation that will cover the costs associated with tissue typing, ordinarily $52. If you meet the donor eligibility criteria, you can send away for the kit between now and the 22nd of September. Hear that? You can get registered as a bone marrow donor for FREE, thanks to NASCAR.
Dan & Katy's riend and neighbor has been diagnosed with Leukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant. Matches for a bone marrow transplant are about 1 in 20,000 people, so the more people that register--the better! And even if you aren't able to help him, you might be able to help someone else.
All that is required is a very simple and painless cheek swab sample to get you on the bone marrow donor registry. If you are matched, the procedure is done under anesthesia so it isn't painful. Please do it. I cannot think of a better way to spend 5 minutes. You could save a life.

Ok Meag, I just spent the last 20 minutes reading your blog. I forget how much I love your stories. Plus, you're a great writer. I really need to come visit. I haven't seen Olivia yet, and Keizya needs to meet her too. So there were some stories I was just rolling. And her pictures are amazing, I absolutely love them! She's so perfect and beautiful! You do so well at keeping up on your blog, how do you do it? Anyway, I'll come visit sometime soon, especially since school started and it's getting colder and I'm afraid of getting cabin fever again.

Thank You for posting this. Austin went through a bone Marrow transplant when he had cancer and it was so amazing to see strangers and other people willing to help. Bone marrow transplants are hard and the better of a match you have the easier it is. Thanks for letting others know you can register for free. I hope Katie's friend does well.

Olivia is getting so big! She is adorable to say the least, i love the pic of her laying backwards watching t.v. that is hilarious! I am glad to see you are doing good, isn't it frustrating when you lose your info. I have done it too!
