Recipes

I've been trying to compile all my favorite recipes for about two years now. What is taking so long? Well, I have favorites scattered all over the place. Many of them lie within the pages of my one hundred recipe books, index card files, and favorite food blogs. But for most of my favorite dishes I don't even have copies of the recipes.

Wendi and I have been spending a lot of time going through my mom's recipe files, trying to gather all the family favorites. I've been contacting my grandma Wilson (who cooks like Martha Stewart) for even more family favorites. Then I've been typing them all into a word document. I had big plans to make some really cute scrapbook/cookbook, but after my last post you all know that I gave up on scrapbooking a while ago. Then, Wendi and I were going to have a really neat family cookbook printed, but, once again the perfectionists in us took over and couldn't get past the idea of how to add new favorites once the book was published. So, I continued with the Word document but I had to be the one responsible for typing up everything. Although I must mention that Tyler usually got roped into it since he types so incredibly fast. He knows every shortcut for formatting and can format as quickly as he can type. Seriously, it's impressive. But, I digress... After spending so much time updating the file, I was constantly emailing updated versions to my mom and all my sisters. Needless to say, it's been a pain.

After much discussion, we decided to just make another freakin' blog. A recipe blog. That way all of us can update it, we have access to it from almost any computer, and best of all, we can still have it printed into a fancier book, or just print out the pages and stick 'em in a plain binder.

I'm sure you all have your own recipes, but if any of you are interested in checking out our blog, you can visit it here. I also have a link on my side bar, under Favorite Food Blogs, called "Say It With Carbs." Enjoy!

Yeah I love recipes and I love blogs, I am so excited! I have recipes on scratch paper, napkins, bill envelopes, cookbooks etc. I have been trying to figure out how to organize mine as well. I just bought a big binder on Saturday to start the monumental project of compiling all of them.

This is a great idea. You should check out the recipe club on my blog. The girl who mainly uploads recipes digitally scrapbooks them and they're always so cute. If you need ideas, check out her site.
