The mess drove both Tyler and me crazy, but Tyler put up with it partially because he liked the finished product, but I think it was mostly because he didn't want to share his office with me. And, the fact that he just goes with the flow and lets me do my thing probably had a little to do with it, too.
Hundreds of hours and probably thousands of dollars later I don't have a whole heck of a lot to show for all those messes. I am such a perfectionist that it wasn't unusual for me to spend an entire evening (or two or three) on one page. And if the page wasn't looking as perfect as I thought it should, I would set it aside and vow to finish it later, when I was in a better "groove." Sometimes I finished them, sometimes I didn't. I do have a few albums, but no where near the amount I ought to have by now. However, all my paints, stamps, paper and hundreds of other supplies are sitting in a closet taking up space.
Once my job transferred me to downtown Salt Lake and I had a 112 mile round trip drive to work every day, I quit scrapbooking. I was too busy to even think about it. Not to mention I was a little tired of it. I did try a little bit of digital scrapbooking, but once again I was just too busy to really be interested.
Now that Olivia is almost a year old I haven't done a single scrapbook page, well, until tonight. I have thousands of photos of her and I haven't been doing anything with them. I swore I wasn't going to stuff all my kids photos in a box without dates, out of order, etc. But, now I see why that happens so frequently!
After Maddy created my blog template, I decided that I really did miss being creative and so I decided to pull out my scrapbooking stuff. Not the paper and such, after all, Olivia would love all that stuff way too much. Instead I found all my digital stuff and decided to go digital, again. Now, don't get me wrong... I am still going to have my blog made into a book, but I think it might be fun to do a little scrapbooking again. Besides that, Tyler is begging me to keep doing it. His mom kept all of their family albums in scrapbooks, and he has numerous albums from his childhood, so he really appreciates the time and effort (which does make me want to do it for my kids). Besides, babies are much more fun to scrapbook than adults!
So, here is the page I finished tonight.

I know I haven't done Flashback Friday in a long time, but I was just thinking that it would be really funny to post old scrapbook pages. Seriously, I have some real doozies. I look at the stuff that I did only 5 or 6 years ago and laugh. I remember thinking it was so cute! Ha ha ha.

I'm hopeless at scrapbooking. I just don't have the patience for it - and my perfectionist tendencies make for general disgust for any of my amateurish attempts. My problem is that I never get around to putting together photo albums. I'm usually great about at least keeping them all labeled and filed - but my blog has proven to be a huge distraction and the past few months of unsaved/named/filed pictures are just hanging over my head... I keep saying that "tonight" I'm going to get started on that project. Tonight better be soon or I may never get out from under this!
That is awesome Meagan..do you use a particular scrapbooking program? I have thought about breaking down and doing some digital stuff but I don't know where to begin.
I always thought you did great work. Thank goodness for blogs though, I'm off the hook when it comes to scrapbooking.
Meagan, I am Becky Morrison's cousin, Sherri. Could you e-mail me at wiltbank13@juno.com today? Thanks!
She is such a beautiful baby! And the scrapbook page is adorable. You should keep doing it, you will never regret it!
My sister and I are doing our peaches this week! My Mom helped me do my pears last week...so nice. I love canned peaches too, my husband eats the pears, not me.
I hear ya with the scrapbooking...MESS! I do the books now. Like the Macbooks...they are adorable. There is a website for PC I think it is www.shutterfly.com I don't know if you have a PC or Mac but if you have a mac it is just in your iphoto. Love ya!
You truly are so talented in everything you do!! Your scrapbook pages are always so cute!! Little Olivia is gorgeous!!
Great Page. I need to get into digi-scrapping again!
Ooh, my old scrapbook pages are SCARY! I've had such long gaps between sessions that it's very apparent in the change of style. I've only scrapbooked once this whole year, and that was last week. I really need to go digital...
So cute Meagan! I just did some this weekend, too!! It's so awesome not to have a mess that you have to clean up afterwards, isn't it?
