For the past two weeks I've been trying to get Olivia to reach for her toys. I would take her hands and make her touch different objects repeatedly. She would stare at her own hands with a lot of interest, but unless the toy flashed colorful lights and played snazzy music, she didn't seem too enthralled.
I was watching her this morning as she played on her "gym" (weird name for it, but that is what they call it) and noticed that she was batting at the animals dangling above her. I didn't want to be one of those parents that gets overly excited about their budding genius, especially because I thought it was quite possibly a fluke, but as I watched her more closely I realized that she really was touching them intentionally.
I was so excited! So, of course Tyler and I whipped out the video camera and caught it all on tape. Although part of me wants her to stay little forever, another part of me can't wait for each milestone (everyday I tell Tyler how I can't wait until I can feed her with a spoon!).
As exciting as this is, I know I can say good-bye to keeping things within her reach. I'll probably end up with plenty of food in my lap, earrings yanked out of my ears, and a child screaming for whatever I have in my hands. Good-bye peaceful story-time with no worries of her tearing the pages, and hello board books!
Until then, I'm just excited that she is reaching for things!

Yeah Olivia! It is sad when they start to grow-up (heck I have a 5 year old) but then they just keep reaching more and more milestones and it's just as fun! You just don't have as much control over them...which really stinks!
Milestones are FUN!! You realize that this is coming from a NON-baby person though...right?
I am missing nap time though...GRR!!
Good girl! I know each milestone is so much fun! I know, except I was never very excited about feeding with a spoon, and I am actually enjoying it with Carson right now. He just started though. it seems the longer it goes on...your like feed yourself! No, I am just joking. It is all fun. Just not when you are trying to feed yourself:)
Hi Meagan,
I have added your name to the SFHS class of 2000 blog, if you are in contact with other from our class, please send them to this blog so I can add their link.
Thank you
this is so fun to see what everyone is up to! I don't even know how I got to your blog, but I am glad I did. Looks like you are doing well, enjoying your new change in life...motherhood.
You know, this might sound stupid or totally "high school" but I really am sorry for what a nerd I was back then. I still can't believe how obsessive I was about the whole Chad thing. I was like that weed that keeps growing back! :(
But hey, We all grew up and were all happy and loving life. I would never go back to high school for a second! I was such a nerd! Sorry I was that fly buzzing in your ear all the time!
Talented writer? I'm afraid this is just my life Maegan..and I'm just bringing it painfully front and center, for you all to see. JK! HI! I'm so glad we are all blogging now and can be in on the blogossip. (Is that a term? I'm new to this. If it's not...copyright Amberly Kingsford 2008.)
P.S. Your baby is such a doll. Larren doesn't think that many babies are cute (a lot seem to resemble aliens) but I was looking at your blog and he was in the room and he said--"Well THAT'S a cute baby! Who's baby is that?" So there you go...from Lar Bear...with love.
Wow! She is getting big! It is so crazy how much they change even just from day to day. I still need to get my hands on her cute checks! In about 3 of 4 weeks I am out of this house and we are meeting for lunch for sure!
Meagan,
Olivia's pictures on Mere's site are soooo cute! Love the bow! :)
Hi Meg, Oliva is beautiful! Aren't they amazing? I love to watch them grow and see new developments everyday!
I had been trying to get to your blog but for some reason it wouldn't let me. I had to go through Ashley's to see yours! weird! Anyway, I hope that all is well. Keep in touch!
