Napping Problem...

We are having a slight problem with naps... Olivia has started sleeping only about 30 minutes at a time! UGH! She was napping so well; about 1-2 hours in the morning and another 1-2 hours in the afternoon. But, that seems to be over. I don't mind her being awake, but she gets SO cranky by about 4:00 and then she is so tired she can't eat without falling asleep (but if I try to put her down she wakes right back up). And to make it worse, if she doesn't eat enough during the day then she wakes up more during the night! UGH.

I am asking for help as she has just woken up from her second 30 minute nap of the day. So, if anyone has any suggestions for nap times PLEASE, please, please... help me out!

this is my third try posting and it just keeps disappearing.

one more time. Check for earaches, my Dalton had 78 in his first year of life and pain gets worse when they lay down(usually dr. visit is the only way), gassy (had to give gas drops to my second with every feeding or gas would wake him up), My second teethed for 5 months before an actual tooth appeared(1/2 dosage tylenol or crushed teething tablets rubbed onto gums)

Well I'm NOT an expert..But from my kids, I've learned that
It's perfectly NORMAL for their naps to start changing around this age! All 5 of my kids did this!
It acually only lasts about 3-4 weeks then they usually go back to their regular routine? So don't get too worried..just go with the flow it's sometimes messes up YOUR routine, but if you try to keep her awake for about 2-3 hours in the morning...she'll probley be willing and ready for that afternoon feeding and LONG nap! I don't know...hope that helps girl!
Love ya!

I don't know, I know when the start learning "new tricks" they kind of get restless.

*disclaimer*
Kids should not be fed "food" until they are six months old.

I started feeding Ellie rice cereal at 4 months. She wasn't sleeping as long, and she was always hungry. Once she started with the rice cereal, she was perfect about naps and sleeping through the night. I like my sleep.

I wasn't really a routine mommy, so I don't know the whole schpeal...maybe she needs her nap to be later? Ellie took a nap at 9:30 and 1:00 when she was little.

IDK, hopefully she'll get back to her cute little sleeping on time self.

I agree with Marie, some times they just get it in their head to change things up. When Sam started to do this (he was a little older than Olivia is), I switched him to just one nap a day, right after his lunch and then he slept longer because he was super tired. That also meant he went to bed a little earlier. This is just an idea but it easily could be a little glitch in the whole routine that will go away in a while! I LOVE routines so I know how bad it stinks when they are not kept!

hey Meg
a lifesaver for us was the dvd "happiest baby on the block." it shows how to swaddle and different soothing techniques. Once we applied it, John slept consistenly for 1 1/2 to 2 hours at EVERY nap time and he slept about 8 hours a night. That was when he was 2 or 2 1/2 months old I think. It was a lifesaver!! He was taking sporadic 30 minute naps before that.
anyway-I will tell you more tomorrow! Can't wait to see you!
