Scooter

This is my little scooter. She scoots all around. I don't think she consciously realizes that it gets her from here to there, yet, but it keeps her busy. On Monday night we put her on her gym mat to play while we ate dinner. We heard her babbling away, as she usually does. A few minutes later we looked over and she was making her way toward the front door, just talking to herself along the way.

Before long, she circled around and headed back to her mat. I'm sure the direction of her travel is completely coincidental, but we like to pretend that she was headed back to play with her toys.
She looks like a little spider when she scoots around because she spreads her arms out as if they're another set of legs. Then she pushes with her little legs and off she goes. She travels in a circle because she usually tilts her head to one side as she pushes, which leads her body in the same direction.

And here she is almost back at her mat. She LOVES this gym. She could play on it for hours at a time. There is a star that straps to the top and it plays music and flashes bright colors; she is mesmerized by it. She'll laugh and talk to it. She loves to bat at the toys that dangle from the arches, too. She tries to pull them down to her mouth so she can suck on them but gets frustrated when they won't come close enough, so I've added some links to a few of them so she can actually attempt to eat them.

And, if her diaper looks a little big on her, don't worry, it's not full. It is indeed a big diaper. She doesn't quite meet the "weight" recommendation for the size 3s, but they're the only diapers that she doesn't explode out of. Yes, that's right. This bigger size has reduced the number of outfits that we go through in a day. Monday however, we still went through three outfits (probably due to the Amoxicillin for her ear infection) , hence the naked baby. We let her play in her diaper until it was time to get her in her PJs.
And now I can hear my sweet little Olivia talking to herself in her crib. She's getting back to her normal routine-- Thank goodness for Amoxicillin! I love when she wakes up in a good mood like this! It makes for great play time with mom! Well, I'm off to go smother her with kisses.

I think you're right... based on the milestones she has already reached, I think it's plain to see she is a genius, physically and mentally.

I am glad to see that she is feeling better! Just wait, she might get the bald-spot on the back of her head and leaving her cute hair around the house as she is scooting! Happens to the best of them! She is totally advanced but I remember Meagan being SUPER smart too so it must be the combination of the 2 of you!

She totally has the bald spot! It is so funny. The best part about it is the dark "tail" of hair below the bald spot. It's like a little pony tail. I think we should try braiding it. LOL. It blended in when she had a ton of hair, but now that it is thinning the "tail" is still thick and really sticks out. It's funny. And the bald spot right above it makes it even more noticeable. I'll take a picture and post it when she wakes up from her nap.
