I'm Getting Old!

My 26th birthday was just over a week ago, on the 21st. I remember a time when 26 seemed old. And now you are expecting me to say that I think 26 is young, right? Well, I'm not so sure! I have mixed feelings about turning 26. Part of me thinks I am still 21... what happened to the last 5 years? I still feel young-- most of the time. But then, I start thinking too hard and suddenly I am afraid that the next 26 years are going to pass by as quickly as the last 26... and then, I'll be (GULP) 52! That is older than my parents-- and I am already 1/2 way there!

I've decided that once you start having kids time goes by much more quickly, too. Where have the last 7 months gone? I've been away from work for 7 months? That's over 1/2 a year. And I haven't done half of the things that I swore I would do once I was a stay at home mom. Spring clean my entire house, make dinner every single night, scrapbook, have an organized office, exercise daily & eat healthier. Of course, when I was working I was absolutely positive that all of that would be easier when I didn't have to work. It was just too hard to find the time to do all that. I mean, I knew having a baby isn't easy, and I knew it would be difficult to get things done with a little one around. But what I didn't realize is how fast the day would go by. There is so much to get done! Bathe the baby, feed her, feed myself, pick up, deep clean, put her down for one of her 30 minute naps, change her, feed her, play with her, start dinner, clean up 1/2 my mess, put her down for another 30 minute nap, change her, feed her, entertain her while trying to finish dinner & hoping Tyler rescues me soon... you get the idea.

And, here I am 7 months later, another year older, and afraid that if I don't start making the most of every single day I am going to waste away the next 26 years. And with that, I must cut to the chase and finish my birthday post, 'cause well... I've got things to do, like take Olivia, Maran and Maddie to the pool with Katy and Ellie.

Tyler always goes the extra mile when planning birthdays, anniversaries, or any special occasion. And my 26th birthday was no exception. He had my family over for breakfast-- waffles with fresh fruit. YUM! Then, he pulled out my birthday gifts. I was a little surprised because we had both agreed that my previous shopping trip to the sewing store would count as my birthday gift. But, I should have known that Tyler wouldn't keep our agreement. The gifts were wrapped in true, Tyler fashion... one box inside of another. I think he does it partly to be irritating and partly because he is hoping to disguise the gift even more. He got my a new Macbook. I've wanted one for a long time, but since my other computer was working just fine I couldn't justify a new one. Honestly, I had no idea until I tore off a small piece of the wrapping paper. My first thought was, "You didn't...?!?" But, I love it and I am super excited about it. My family also went in on it, so a huge thanks to all of them, too.

Like I said, Tyler always makes it a pain to unwrap gifts.
I saw one small part of the box and new instantly what he had done. This is the, "You didn't...?!?" look.

Olivia loved the wrapping paper, of course. She thought it tasted really good!

What a good idea Tyler!! I need to do that, Dan always guesses what he is getting...it doesn't help that he asks Ellie and she tells him!!

Happy belated birthday Meagan! 24 was actually really hard on me (mostly because I was still single.) But 26 was a doozy as well, it blows my mind that time can pass by so quickly and you don't even realize it!
