It's true. I am a believer. I wasn't sure that letting her cry it out would make Olivia sleep better, but now I am a firm believer. I tried so many other methods, some of which worked temporarily, but until last week I was sleep deprived and I was desperately needing her to take a good nap so I could get some stuff done!
I think the rough part is over. For the last 4 nights she has slept a solid 12 hours. She still cries for a few minutes when we put her down, but it is definitely getting better and is easily tolerable, especially when I know it means we'll both get a good night's sleep!
We are still working on nap time, but even that is getting better. She took another 2 hour nap yesterday, which is usually completely unheard of. Not all naps are that great, but I do feel like it is improving.
Now that it is all said and done (mostly), I can say that I am glad I went ahead and tried it. I was really hoping to not have to go that route, but hey, I was desperate, and it worked! I feel much better now that I am getting more sleep, and I am sure Olivia does, too.
P.S. I highly recommend Dr. Weissbluth's book, Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child.

You're my parenting hero. I'll be calling you once I have kids to get tips from you. You rock!
Just stick to it. She will get better. Good girl Olivia!
I have the shelf reliance too. I LOVE IT! It has everthing all over, and I love the little tags that tell you when something is gone. Cam bought it for christmas for me like 3 years ago and I thought How dumb! But now, I love it! Ssshh... don't tell.
I just read up on your sleeping extravaganza's. We just took Keizya to her 4 month appt today. Dr. told me to make sure she can fall asleep completely by herself by 6 months. So, I'm gonna learn some lessons, and take some tips from you...I'm starting now. Or so I say... Keizya falls asleep on her own with her binki, and sometimes when it falls out and she's tired enough, she'll fall asleep by herself, but for the most part, we have some working to do as well. I know exactly what you mean when you just want to run in and rescue her...it's so hard! Tell Kyler congratulations! That's very cool! I'm glad to hear you guys are doing so well. You guys should let me in on your sewing parties some time! I'm always up for a new project...after I finish the five million I've already started. Love ya Meag!
I am glad that it is working for you! Hey, I want an apron so teach me...since no one invited me to the clas...:( hee hee hee!
I'm a friend from BBC and I need to know what you did with this extinction method...like down to every detail. I am so desperate! Please email me!!
