Quick Update On Day One...

As always, Olivia just woke up after being asleep for about 45 minutes. Yes, for the most part this has been a nightly ritual since she was just a couple of months old. I usually let her cry for about 30 seconds, just to make sure she is really awake and not just stirring, and then I go pat her or rub her back for a few seconds and she falls asleep.

But not tonight! When I heard her start crying I was worried that she would keep crying unless I went in to comfort her. But, good news. After about 10 seconds she fell back asleep! I seriously hope this isn't too good to be true.

Way to go Meg! Its such a challenge to get your baby to sleep through the night and nap during the day and follow ALL the recommendations of every doctor and child specialist out there...its exhausting! I totally feel for you. Seriously, way to take charge of Olivia's sleep. I have a couple friends who didn't think it was that important to establish good sleep patterns with their babies and now that their little ones are almost a year old, they STILL don't sleep through the night, have random bed times, won't sleep in cribs and have to be bounced or rocked to sleep. My friends are seriously sleep deprived and desperate at this point... My friends says its so hard-they both wish they would have tried the cry it out method when the babies were younger.
so really Meg, way to go. You will be so grateful you did it now.
I tried a couple different methods until we found one that worked with John. You just have to figure out what works for you.
ok.
woah. I am off my soap box now.
I just get so excited about baby talk though...
ok, now in response to your comment on my blog, I don't know when we will be down next. Nick graduates in Dec and then we may be moving (who knows where at this point...) we have some options but nothing set yet.
sheesh, I'll end my novella now.

Dude, don't worry I am not going to tell you not to let them cry it out. Cry it out, I say. Carson was so naughty when he was little. Even now, when he wakes up in the middle of the night, I wait at least 5 minutes, then I just go give him a bottle, and he goes back to sleep. Because if I get him out of his bed, then he thinks he needs to lay by me, and cries even harder when I lay him back down. So my advice would be...whatever you do, don't pick her up, just soothe her in her bed.

Congrats to Kyler, there costumes are adorable!!!! Seriously they are batman and cat woman, she is sexy and all. I can't wait to see you in a week :)
